High-impact corn value chain project in Isabela now underway

March 9, 2026 Public Information Office

A high-impact, investment-ready corn value chain project in Isabela is now underway, following a meeting on March 9 between the Provincial Government of Isabela (PGI) and the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), a delivery partner of the British Embassy in Manila, to collaborate on its development.

The meeting, held at the Provincial Capitol, was part of a United Kingdom (UK)-Philippine government initiative on climate adaptation and resilience, under the Philippine National Adaptation Plan (NAP), with Isabela selected to receive support.

Discussions focused on localized climate analytics for Isabela’s agricultural sector, including a proposed project to construct post-harvest corn drying and storage facilities that would serve approximately 83,000 hectares of farmland and help reduce downstream post-harvest losses.

The delegation also presented plans to scale regenerative agriculture across 43,000 hectares of upland corn farms to mitigate soil erosion and reduce sedimentation.

During the meeting, the PGI and BCG delegation identified potential project sites and explored collaboration opportunities in preparation for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the British Embassy in Manila.

Isabela was chosen for the climate resilience and adaptation project of the UK–PH partnership based on its agricultural significance, leadership in corn production, and vulnerability to climate risks.
