Through the strong partnership between the Provincial Government of Isabela (PGI) and the agricultural offices of Jinan County and Yanggu County in South Korea, more than 600 Isabeleños have participated in the Seasonal Workers Program (SWP) since 2022. This opportunity not only provides income for their families but also equips them with practical skills and global experience in modern agriculture.
Governor Rodito T. Albano has consistently supported this initiative, recognizing its role in promoting agricultural innovation, community empowerment, and sustainable development. Under the program, farmers are deployed to South Korea for five months, with the possibility of returning in future seasons.
To ensure the continued success of the program, the provincial government is regularly sending delegations to visit the farmers deployed in South Korea. These visits are being conducted to monitor their working and living conditions, check on their health and well-being, and ensure that wages are being paid and labor rights are being respected.
Delegation members are conducting site inspections, holding conversations with the farmers, and coordinating with South Korean local officials to assess the overall implementation of the program and identify areas for improvement.
While isolated challenges may arise, PGI remains committed to strengthening this international partnership and making sure that Isabeleño farmers are being empowered, protected, and included in the province’s long-term development efforts.
