Distribution of Bangkas

Staying true to his commitment to invest in people, Governor Rodito T. Albano distributed wooden bangkas (fishing boats) and essential fishing gear to small-scale fisherfolk from the towns of Cabagan, Delfin Albano, City of Ilagan, Naguilian, Quirino, Reina Mercedes, Sta. Maria, Sto. Tomas, San Pablo, and Tumauini.

A total of 125 groups, composed of 676 marginalized fisherfolk, received the assistance under the Isabela Recovery Initiatives to Support Enterprises Program. Worth over ₱2.7 million, the project aims to strengthen livelihoods and ensure that even the most vulnerable communities can take part in local development efforts.
Fishing continues to be a key source of income for many families in Isabela. In 2023 alone, the province produced more than 9,600 tons of fish from aquaculture, inland waters, and marine resources, covering over 1,200 hectares of fishing grounds.

The provincial government recognizes the crucial role that fisherfolk play in food security and rural development. By supporting their needs, Governor Albano ensures that they are included in the province’s growth—not left behind.
With the help of natural resources like the Magat Dam and the Cagayan River, Isabela’s fishing industry has the potential to generate more jobs and improve quality of life across communities.

In 2022, Isabela contributed over half of the total agricultural value of the entire Cagayan Valley Region, showing how strong the province’s agri-fishery sector is.
By investing in fisherfolk today, Isabela is not just handing out boats—it is opening up opportunities for inclusive development, economic participation, and a better future for all.
